RDS

Keep your files organized and research moving forward.

Store. Share. Collaborate.

Research Data Storage (RDS) is a standardized secure way to store, share, and manage data files generated by research equipment across UHN.

  • Use your UHN credentials to log in
  • Create user profiles to enable differential file access for team
  • Log your experimental and instrument metadata to increase file searchability and findability
  • Use RDS as a single source of truth for all your research files

How RDS works

Please note, VPN connection is required to use RDS if you’re working off-site.

You can store any type of research files and create customized metadata structure-specific and relevant for your research projects. The metadata enables data findability for your team, and if you choose to, for the UHN community thus creating opportunities for increased use of existing data, and new collaborations.

There is a large amount of data generated by research equipment across UHN. The data is coming from a variety of equipment, such as confocal microscopes, flow cytometers, and mass spectrometers, as well as a variety of labs and research initiatives. In most cases, the data’s value is limited to the project for which it was collected, and the possibilities for its reuse are limited. A centralized and standardized storage solution is needed to allow for a systematic approach to data management.

For research files only.
